Motivation is a very individual and personal thing, so it can be instigated in many different ways. However, inspiration can be more generalised, as it can be broad enough to help people connect in a way that’s personal to them, which can then inspire motivation to occur.

We all think we know what motivation looks like.

It’s someone who knows what they want, and they go out and get it, doing whatever it takes to achieve that goal.

That sounds pretty great doesn’t it.

Just think what we could all achieve if we were able to be motivated all the time.

And the belief that it’s possible to find that ability, is one that’s been capitalised by many people over the years who have sold various “systems” to hundreds of thousands of people.

With the high number of customers of these “systems”, the odds are that a few people have successfully achieved their goal after buying one.

But those same odds tell us that the significant majority don’t achieve their goals.

Although, there are enough of them that have been successful to be able to provide case studies and testimonials to help continue the myth of motivation.

So what’s the real story with motivation?

Well, it comes from a potent release of naturally occuring chemicals in the brain that make us feel like anything is possible.

But this isn’t a long term state, as the chemicals eventually return to their usual levels, and that euphoric feeling of motivation is lost.

So what can we do to get it back or maintain it for a longer period of time?

A lot of people have experimented with drugs to try and trigger those brain chemicals, but there are negative side effects, so it’s not an advisable solution, particularly for an extended duration.

A much healthier way of elongating that motivated sensation, is to use it effectively when it happens.

What does that look like?

It’s about using that time to make a plan of how you can realistically achieve your goals, then use it as a guide to get through the days when those brain chemicals aren’t working in your favour.

Doing this may sound really boring and long-winded when you’re not in a state of motivation.

But when that motivation strikes, you’re able to overcome those negative feelings and put things in place to get you moving towards your goals when you’re not feeling motivated.

This is a very individual thing, as we all have different reasons for not taking actions on days we feel unmotivated.

So only you will know how best to overcome those reasons.

And making this plan when you are motivated, will help you through all the days where motivation is just not there.

Then it’s just a matter of going through your own routine to keep moving towards your chosen goals one day at a time.

If you need some guidance on making your plan, you can use my free ebook to kick-start your life and build momentum.
